The dark and gloomy sky since early Friday morning threatened to disrupt the final day of the “Shikhar Lights Music Pop Express - Concert on Wheels” at the Min Bhawan Pani Tanki Grounds and at the Golfutar Ground. To the delight of the organizers and the singers, it was thankfully not so in the first venue. Instead, the cool weather set up the perfect kind of atmosphere for the significantly large crowd to join in the hour-long musical bandwagon. After entertaining the Min Bhawan audience with a dozen popular songs, the five-day musical extravaganza moved on to the Golfutar Ground, for its tenth and final show, where it was caught in the drizzle. But that still was not enough to dampen and hold the spirits of the nearly 2,500 enthusiastic music lovers who danced and sang with the artistes, paying no heed to the downpour. Their vibrant energy was able to lift the singers and helped the show conclude on a high and encouraging note. The artistes were very delighted by the response generated throughout the five days of the concert. Nirnaya Da NSK said, “It's definitely a matter of pride to have entertained so many people in just five days.” Kranti Ale, the Chyangba Hoi Chyangba boy, described it as a unique experience in that the audience turnout was always “unexpected”. “Earlier, we had expected 500-1000 people for the concert but it was more than 3,000 at almost all venues. It also helped us to have close interactions with listeners of all ages because it was a free concert,” he shared his thoughts. He said the Min Bhawan show was special for him where he was able to meet a mentally retarded fan of his. Meanwhile, Bala Gurung, Brand Manager of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, said that they would continue organizing such programs in future as well. |
